Virtual Infrastructure RFP (2026)

Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) invites suppliers to upgrade or replace our existing virtual infrastructure with a solution to meet requirements defined within this RFP.

The purpose of this RFP is to identify a suitable solution that is reliable, efficient, resilient, scalable, performant and have a useful life of at least 5 years. The solution should seek to address key desired objectives below:
▪ Allow Digital Solutions to comply with security guidelines and patch the system within 2 weeks for any critical security patches
▪ Provide disaster recovery automation and orchestration
▪ Be cloud ready and allow Digitals Solutions to plan migration to the cloud

Virtual infrastructure is one of the core services, used widely across the University, from the central service units to schools & faculties and some of our key business partners; virtual infrastructure is Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).
Ensuring the infrastructure is maintained and supported is key to ensuring stability and reliability. This infrastructure is also a key enabler of our Business Continuity Plan, providing expedient recovery of systems and business services in the event of a disaster.

Nutanix virtual infrastructure was initially installed in 2021 with an expected service life of 5 years, the infrastructure supports approximately six hundred plus virtual servers and applications.
