Whanganui Prison Network Water Upgrade - Main Contractor

The Department is shortly going to the market to seek a managing contractor for the delivery of pre-construction and construction and delivery services relating to the our Whanganui Prison Network Water Infrastructure Upgrade project. We will be seeking a competent managing contractor with the capability and capacity to deliver against the Departments requirements whilst delivering a value-for-money solution that achieves or exceeds all project requirements.

The three packages of work are:

Package 1 – Wastewater: Whanganui Prison’s wastewater is treated and disposed of on site via a waste-water treatment plant. Work, including rectification of existing wastewater treatment systems, is required to ensure consenting and statutory compliance and remediation of existing assets;
Package 2 – Stormwater: A resource consent application for Stormwater Discharge was granted by the Environment Count in October 2022. The Department needs to ensure stormwater discharge is compliant with these consent conditions. Work is required to ensure assets and infrastructure can meet these requirements.
Package 3 - Potable Water: New potable water infrastructure is required to meet operational and water safety requirements.

The Department expects to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the market in early February 2023. Closing date for responses will be in early March 2023.
