Whangarei Hospital Helipad Upgrade

Health New Zealand (the Principal) seeks to engage a competent contractor to undertake the upgrading of the helipad for Whangarei Hospital. Investment in the helipad upgrade will shorten patient transfer times and will improve patient outcomes.

The project will remove the current helipad and construct a new fit for purpose helipad on the surgical wing roof, and will involve roof demolition, construction, structural upgrades, and relocation of services. The contractor will be required to provide all plant, equipment, and locally based labour; maintain access to the work sites and other adjacent buildings as necessary; and operate a robust and transparent Health and Safety (H&S) system.

While completed designs are provided with this Request for Tenders (RFT), the Principal is open to considering alternative design and construction proposals, especially those that demonstrate shorter downtime for the helipad, reduced costs, or other efficiencies and benefits. Alternative proposals must meet the required specifications, and must include all design, engineering, and construction costs, including any costs associated with building consent changes if these are required.

If an Alternative proposal is submitted, it is preferred, but not mandatory, that a conforming proposal is also submitted. Any Alternative proposals submitted must provide all relevant information required in the Non-Price Response Form as well as comprehensive pricing information, separately and independently from any information provided in Conforming proposals.
